Frequently asked questions
Lesson FAQ's
Lessons must be scheduled AT LEAST one day in advance.
Lessons will last approximately 30 minutes.
Lessons must be paid online; cash will not be accepted.
Students who need financial arrangements should speak to me in private. Your education is important to me, so we will find a way to make things work.
Lessons cancelled less than 24 hours in advance or missed entirely will NOT be eligible for refund. Extreme circumstances and illness WILL be considered.
School exams and homework are NOT acceptable reasons for missing a lesson as prioritizing your obligations is an expected part of your education.
The instructor​ reserves the right to cancel any lesson with due notice. Students who do not receive notice within a reasonable amount of time will be refunded their lesson fee.
Every student is expected to arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to their lesson time. They should be warmed up and ready to start exactly on time.
Every student is strongly recommended to have a journal with them to record lesson notes and competition observations/results. This journal will be reviewed by the coach on a regular basis and used to tailor the student's lessons.
Fencing is a dynamic and intensive sport, particularly sabre. Students are expected to maintain a reasonable fitness level in order to prevent injury and excel at their weapon.
It is a waste of the student's time and the coach's time if a student uses their lesson to practice their skills. Students are expected to practice their lesson skills outside of lesson times.
Discontinue a lesson to a student who is disrespectful or belligerent.
Lesson time is precious. The instructor will decline to give a lesson to any student who is ten (10) minutes late, and that lesson's fee is forfeit. The lesson MAY be rescheduled if there is available time.
