COACH CRISTIAN BRANCHINI

Coach Cristian Branchini began practicing fencing in 1980 in a small club in his hometown in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Under the supervision of Master Amarfil Lucero, he specialized primarily in foil, winning many local and state tournaments. In 1985 he moved to another state, joining the Argentine Air Force Academy. With Master Alejandro Macri (national foil Champion) as a coach, he learned epee and saber as a military cadet. During that time, he had the opportunity to participate in various state, nationals, and even international tournaments for the military of the different Armed Forces of South America, reaching the top 10 on many occasions. Between 1990 and 1993, he was part of the Fencing Team of the Argentine Air Force, and as an instructor officer, he had the opportunity to teach both in the Government and private entities. (G.E.B.A. Club). In 2004 he moved to the United States, meeting Coach Grace Buchanan at her former fencing club in Corpus Christi, Texas. Cristian is also a Coach member of USAFencing with certified Safe Sport training and background check and has been living in the Rio Grande Valley since 2009.
